Seminole Sunday Summary: FSU Basketball’s Season Ends in Sweet 16
Florida State reached the Sweet 16 for a third straight NCAA Tournament, but for the Seminoles, that’s where it would end.
No. 4 seed FSU was handled last Sunday against top-seeded Michigan in Indianapolis, 76-58. The Wolverines used an early 10-0 run to seize control of the contest and never really let it go.
FSU trailed 32-21 at the break and got as close as five in the second half, but Michigan pulled away. The Seminoles shot 40% from the field, but were plagued by 10 first-half turnovers. Michigan shot 69% in the second half and 49% for the game.
Brandon Johns Jr. and Hunter Dickinson each scored 14 points to lead Michigan. Franz Wagner and Chaundee Brown added 13 and 12 points, respectively, in the victory.
Pacing FSU was Anthony Polite with 12 points — all in the second half. Polite also totaled three steals. M.J. Walker added 10 points for FSU in the loss.
With the defeat, FSU finished the season with a record of 18-7. Michigan would go on to fall to UCLA on Tuesday in the Elite Eight, 51-49.
