The last few seasons have not been kind to Florida State football, but in recent weeks, the recruiting trail has.

On Sunday, 5-star athlete Sam McCall announced his commitment to the Seminoles. A 6-foot-0, 180-pound prospect for 2022, McCall picked FSU over the likes of Alabama, Florida, Penn State, Oklahoma and Virginia Tech among others.

A native of Lakeland, McCall is currently listed as the No. 35 overall prospect for 2022 and the fifth-best athlete, according to the 247Sports Composite rankings. He’s the No. 6 prospect from Florida.

McCall becomes FSU’s sixth commitment and second 5-star for 2022. The Seminoles currently own the No. 9 overall class for 2022 and the top class in the ACC.

Between the Lines

FSU baseball dropped the series finale to Pittsburgh in 13 innings on Sunday, 9-7. Florida State women’s hoops notched a big 59-51 win over Wake Forest. FSU beach volleyball wrapped up the Seminole Beach Bash with 5-0 wins over Cal Poly and Tampa. FSU women’s tennis slipped past Wake Forest, 4-3. Florida State women’s golf won the Florida State Match-Up by 37 strokes.

On the Agenda

FSU men’s golf will open the Cabo TPC San Antonio on Monday.

News and Notes

FSU women’s golf had the top three finishers at the Florida State Match-Up, led by winner Beatrice Wallin.

The latest polls will be released for several sports on Monday.
