The Daily Nole — March 2, 2021: Leonard Hamilton Gets 5-Year Extension

Florida State head basketball coach Leonard Hamilton may be 72 years old, but he shows no signs of slowing down.

On Monday, Hamilton was given a 5-year extension worth $2.25 million annually. With incentives, Hamilton can make in the range of $2.7 million, according to a release.

The all-time wins leader at Florida State, Hamilton has the Seminoles set to qualify for the NCAA Tournament for a school record fifth straight season. FSU currently sits atop the ACC at 10-3 in conference play and can clinch a second straight regular season title by winning its final two games.

FSU is currently ranked No. 11 in the AP Poll. It will host Boston College on Senior Night on Wednesday.

FSU men’s golf finished the first round of the Cabo TPC San Antonio on Monday in third place.

On the Agenda

FSU men’s golf will continue the Cabo TPC San Antonio on Tuesday. FSU baseball’s scheduled contest with Mercer has been postponed.

News and Notes

FSU women’s hoops will be the No. 4 seed for the ACC Tournament. It will play either Pittsburgh, Syracuse or Boston College on Friday in the quarterfinals.

FSU hoops remained No. 11 in the AP Poll and fell two spots to No. 11 in the Amway Coaches Poll.

FSU baseball fell out of the D1Baseball, Baseball America, Collegiate Baseball and NCBWA Polls.
