The Daily Nole — Feb. 25, 2021: FSU Hoops Trounces Miami, 88-71

Lead Story

It was domination from the opening tip on Wednesday night as Florida State basketball completed the season sweep and won its seventh straight contest against rival Miami, 88-71.

The Seminoles led by 19 before the midway point of the first half in Coral Gables and from there, the contest was never closer than 11. As a team, FSU shot 54% from the field to just 34% for Miami.

With leading scorer M.J. Walker out, Sardaar Calhoun led FSU with 16 points. Balsa Koprivica tallied 13 points while RaiQuan Gray and Anthony Polite each added 12. Gray also grabbed a game-high 13 rebounds. Isaiah Wong led Miami with a game-high 29 points.

For the season, FSU is now 14-3 and 10-2 in ACC play. The Seminoles can inch closer to a second straight ACC regular season title on Saturday when they visit North Carolina.

In addition to FSU basketball, FSU swimming and diving resumed the ACC Championships on Wednesday.

On the Agenda

FSU swimming and diving will resume the ACC Championships on Thursday. FSU women’s hoops will be at Notre Dame. That contest begins at 7 p.m. ET on ACC Network Extra. FSU track and field will begin the ACC Indoor Championships.
