The Daily Nole — Feb. 24, 2021: FSU Men’s Golf Now Third in Golfweek Rankings

Lead Story

After a second win in three tournaments, Florida State men’s golf now ranks third in the Golfweek/Sargarin rankings. The system is based on mathematical formulas set by Jeff Sargarin, which looks at schedule strength, results and tournaments played among other things.

FSU virtually led from the start in its win at the Seminole Collegiate, which wrapped up on Sunday in Tallahassee. As a team, the Seminoles finished -26 — nine strokes ahead of second-place Oklahoma State.

Florida State had five players finish in the top 16 in the tournament, led by second-place John Pak. Pak finished second overall at -10, which was one stroke behind individual winner Alexandre Fuchs of Liberty.

Up next for FSU will be a trip to San Antonio for the Cabo TPC San Antonio. That begins on Monday and wraps up one week from today.

Between the Lines

There were no FSU athletic events for Tuesday.

On the Agenda

FSU swimming and diving will resume the ACC Championships on Wednesday. FSU men’s basketball will be at Miami. That contest begins at 8:30 p.m. ET and airs on ACC Network.

News and Notes

FSU basketball is currently an 11.5-point favorite over Miami.

FSU baseball’s game with Pittsburgh for Sunday will now start at 2 p.m. ET.
