Lead Story

Florida State women’s basketball salvaged a season split with rival Miami on Sunday. On “Paint it Pink” day at the Donald L. Tucker Center, the Seminoles took down the Hurricanes, 67-59.

FSU led by as many as 18 points in the third quarter, but Miami was able to close the period on a 19-8 run to cut the lead to seven. In the final quarter, Miami got as close as six, but that didn’t come until the final 30 seconds.

Kourtney Weber scored a game-high 15 points to lead four Seminoles in double figures. Bianca Jackson added 13 points and eight assists while Valencia Myers and Sammie Puisis each tallied 12. Taylor Mason led Miami with 13 points on an efficient 4-for-8 shooting.

With the win, FSU is a season-high tying three games over .500 at 8-5 and 7-5 in ACC play. The Seminoles will try to salvage another season split on Thursday when they host Georgia Tech.

Between the Lines

In addition to FSU women’s hoops, FSU women’s tennis beat Florida Atlantic, 4-0. Its match with Florida A&M was postponed. FSU women’s golf participated in the Moon Invitational to open the season.

On the Agenda

FSU women’s golf will continue the Moon Invitational on Monday. FSU men’s basketball hosts Virginia in a pivotal ACC match-up. The contest begins at 7 p.m. ET and airs on ESPN.

News and Notes

The AP and Amway Coaches Polls for men’s hoops will be released on Monday.

To honor legendary baseball coach, FSU pitcher Chase Haney will wear No. 11 in 2021.
