The Daily Nole — Jan. 28, 2021: FSU Hoops Trounces Miami, 81-59

Lead Story

Florida State basketball ran its winning streak to five on Wednesday night. The No. 16 Seminoles had no issues with Miami in an 81-59 victory at the Donald L. Tucker Center.

FSU outscored Miami 33-11 to open the game, but the Hurricanes would eventually cut it to single digits. The Seminoles responded with a 12-0 run early in the second half to essentially put the contest away.

M.J. Walker, Sardaar Calhoun and Malik Osborne all finished with 11 points to lead FSU. RaiQuan Gray added 10 points and a game-high 11 rebounds in the victory.

Isaiah Wong tallied a game-high 21 points to lead Miami. Kameron McGusty and Anthony Walker each added 13 in the loss.

With the win, FSU improves to 10-2 and 6-1 in ACC play. FSU will hit the road on Saturday as it takes on Georgia Tech.

Between the Lines

In addition to the basketball victory, FSU swimming and diving took down Tampa and North Florida on Wednesday. The FSU men topped Tampa, 207-55. The FSU women beat Tampa 207-55 and North Florida, 182-66.

On the Agenda

FSU women’s hoops will visit Wake Forest on Thursday night. The contest begins at 6 p.m. ET and airs on ACC Network Extra.

News and Notes

FSU basketball’s contest at Pittsburgh has been rescheduled for Feb. 6.

FSU’s 2021 football schedule was released on Thursday at 9 a.m.
