It’s Friday, Florida State fans.

As the weekend nears, check out our daily rundown.

Lead Story

Florida State football got a look at what year No. 2 under head coach Mike Norvell will look like on Thursday as the ACC unveiled 2021 schedules.

Some dates were already set such as the Sept. 5 opener vs. Notre Dame, Sept. 11 contest against Jacksonville State, Oct. 23 homecoming date with Massachusetts and the rivalry finale against Florida on Nov. 27. The easiest part of the FSU schedule is early as its first three ACC games come against teams who finished with losing records.

FSU opens ACC play at Wake Forest on Sept. 18 before home contests with Louisville and Syracuse. Things heat up in October as the Seminoles visit both North Carolina and Clemson. The final two home games come the first two Saturdays in November against NC State and rival Miami. FSU wraps up ACC play at Boston College on Nov. 20.

FSU is looking to right the ship after three consecutive losing seasons. The Seminoles finished just 3-6 in 2020 and failed to win a road game for the first time since a winless campaign in 1973.

Between the Lines

FSU women’s hoops fell at Wake Forest on Thursday night, 73-59.

On the Agenda

FSU track and field will be in Clemson on Friday to begin the Bob Pollock meet.

News and Notes

2022 defensive end Aaron Hester, a 3-star prospect, committed to FSU on Thursday.

FSU softball was picked to win the ACC by the conference’s coaches. Sydney Sherrill, Dani Morgan, Caylan Arnold and Anna Shelnutt were all named preseason All-ACC.

FSU soccer juniors Jaelin Howell and Yujie Zhao were named to the MAC Hermann watch list.

FSU softball’s Sydney Sherrill was named to the USA Softball Collegiate Player of the Year Top 50 watch list. Sherrill was also named a second-team preseason All-American by D1Softball.
