It’s a holiday Monday, Florida State fans.

For a quarter, Florida State women’s hoops stood toe-to-toe with No. 2 Louisville. After that, it was all Cardinals.

Louisville ran away from FSU on Sunday afternoon, 84-56. Kianna Smith finished with 16 points and led five Louisville players in double figures. For the day, the Cardinals shot an outstanding 54% from the field. After a 7-for-15 first quarter, the Seminoles shot less than 40% the rest of the way.

Bianca Jackson led FSU with a game-high 21 points in the loss. Morgan Jones added 14 points for the Seminoles.

With the loss, FSU fell to 4-2 on the season and 3-2 in ACC play. The Seminoles return to action on Thursday when they host No. 3 NC State.

Between the Lines

In addition to women’s basketball, FSU men’s tennis opened the 2021 season with shutout wins over Mercer and North Florida. FSU men’s golf is in fourth place through one round of the Camp Creek Seminole Invitational.

On the Agenda

FSU men’s golf resumes the Camp Creek Seminole Invitational on Monday. FSU men’s basketball will visit Louisville. The contest begins at 7 p.m. ET and airs on ESPN.

The men’s basketball AP and Amway Coaches Polls will be released on Monday.

FSU softball has announced its 2021 ACC schedule.
