The Daily Nole — Nov. 16, 2020: FSU Soccer Downs North Carolina to Win ACC Title, Complete Perfect Fall Season

Lead Story

For the seventh time, Florida State soccer is queen of the ACC. The Seminoles captured the ACC title on Sunday by holding off North Carolina, 3-2.

Things started fast for top-seeded FSU as Clara Robbins found the back of the net twice in the first six minutes. FSU added a goal early in the second half when Leilanni Nesbeth scored. Robbins assisted on that goal. Nesbeth assisted on each of the first two goals.

No. 2 seed North Carolina would make things interesting. Rachel Jones scored for the Tar Heels in the 59th minute before Brianna Pinto added a goal with just over a minute to play.

Freshman goalkeeper Cristina Roque finished with two saves in the win. For the second time in three years, FSU defeated the Tar Heels 3-2 for the ACC crown. The Seminoles finish the fall season with a record of 11-0. The NCAA Tournament is set for the spring.

FSU soccer’s ACC title was the only athletic event scheduled for Sunday.

On the Agenda

There are no FSU athletic events scheduled for Monday.
