The Daily Nole — Nov. 11, 2020: FSU Soccer Advances to ACC Semifinals

It’s Veteran’s Day, Florida State fans.

For those of you enjoying the day off, take a minute to check out our daily rundown about what’s happening in FSU athletics.

Lead Story

Nine matches so far in 2020. Still no defeats for Florida State soccer.

The top-seeded Seminoles advanced to the ACC Tournament semifinals on Tuesday with a 2-0 victory over No. 8 seed Notre Dame. FSU scored goals in each half and dominated statistically.

Jaelin Howell got the scoring started with a header that found the net in the final minute of the first half. Clara Robbins added a second-half goal in the 79th minute.

FSU finished with 17 shots to just four for the Fighting Irish. Jenna Nighswonger added an assist in the victory.

The shutout is the seventh for an FSU team that improved to 9-0. FSU will face No. 5 seed Duke on Friday. The Blue Devils beat Clemson on Tuesday, 1-0.

Between the Lines

FSU soccer played the only scheduled athletic event on Tuesday.

On the Agenda

There are no scheduled FSU athletic events for Wednesday.

News and Notes

A full schedule was announced for both FSU men’s basketball. The FSU women unveiled their non-conference slate.

FSU women’s hoops was picked to finish sixth in the ACC by a Blue Ribbon Panel and eighth by the league’s coaches.
