The Daily Nole — April 1, 2019: FSU Softball Completes Sweep of Virginia

Lead Story

Florida State softball completed its domination of Virginia on Sunday with a 16-3 victory to complete the 3-game sweep in Charlottesville.

Six different Seminoles had at least two RBIs in a contest that lasted just five innings. Cali Harrod, Carsyn Gordon and Cassidy Davis all homered in the victory. Harrod scored four runs while Elizabeth Mason touched home three times. Harrod and Dani Morgan each had three RBIs.

Meghan King worked three shutout innings to pick up the win for the Seminoles. Olivia Gott homered and drove in two of the three runs for Virginia in the loss.

With the win, FSU improves to 35-3 and 8-1 in ACC play. The Seminoles will head to Gainesville to take on rival Florida on Wednesday night.

Between the Lines

In addition to FSU softball, FSU men’s tennis fell to North Carolina 6-1 while the women topped Clemson on Sunday, 5-2. FSU baseball fell at Boston College, 8-0.

On the Agenda

There are no FSU athletic events scheduled for Monday.

News and Notes

The ACC will name players of the week for various sports on Monday.

FSU baseball is now unranked in the Baseball America, D1Baseball and Collegiate Baseball Polls. FSU fell from No. 19 to No. 27 in the NCBWA Poll.
