FSU Cross Country Teams Earn Spot in NCAA Championships

No team in the NCAA Cross Country South Regionals had a better day than Florida State.

The FSU women and men finished first and second respectively in Tallahassee on Friday. The NCAA Championships are next Saturday in Madison, Wisconsin.

The FSU women held five of the top 24 spots, including regional winner, senior Militsa Mircheva. Freshman Elizabeth Funderburk finished eighth while Maudie Skyring, a sophomore, was just outside the top 10 in 11th.

Junior Megan Mooney was able to finish 18th. Sophomore Jodie Judd took 24th overall.

The FSU women were followed by rival Florida, Ole Miss, Georgia Tech and Georgia.

The FSU men finished second behind only Ole Miss and in front of third-place Tennessee. Belmont and Georgia Tech rounded out the top five.

Caleb Pottorff, a freshman, was the top finisher on the men’s side in ninth. Junior Steven Cross and senior Toby Hardwick finished 17th and 18th, respectively. Freshman Paul Stafford finished 21st.
