The Daily Nole — Oct. 12, 2018: FSU Athletic Events to Resume Post-Michael

Perrone Ford/FSU athletics

It’s Friday, Florida State fans. As your work week concludes and the weekend nears, keep it here for the latest in FSU athletics. The news and notes section of this post will be updated throughout the day.

Lead Story

After Hurricane Michael forced Florida State to cancel classes for the week and brought devastation to parts of northern Florida and the panhandle, athletic events are set to resume this weekend at Florida State.

The hurricane threat forced the athletics department to cancel baseball and basketball scrimmages as well as the cross country FSU Invitational and a swimming trip to Virginia. Home contests will resume on Saturday with FSU soccer facing NC State in a match originally set for Friday night.

Many in the Tallahassee area and throughout northern parts of the state remain without power while others suffered significant property loss. We at The Daily Nole encourage keeping those individuals and families in your thoughts and prayers.

Between the Lines

There were no FSU athletic events scheduled for Thursday.

On the Agenda

FSU women’s tennis begins the Bedford Cup in Tampa on Friday night. FSU volleyball will be on the road to face Boston College in a contest that begins at 7:30 p.m. EST and airs on ACC Network Extra.

News and Notes

College football is changing transfer rules to be more player-centric.
