It’s Monday, Florida State fans. As your week starts anew, keep it here for the latest in FSU athletics. The news and notes section of this post will be updated throughout the day.

Lead Story

We’re officially one step closer to the start of the Florida State football season.

The first fall camp under new head coach Willie Taggart opens on Monday as the Seminoles look to bounce back from a disappointing 7-6 campaign after starting No. 3 last season. One of the key storylines this offseason will be the role of starting quarterback as Deondre Francois and James Blackman are set to fight for that job, with Bailey Hockman potentially in the mix.

Taggart, along with defensive coordinator Harlon Barnett and offensive coordinator Walt Bell spoke to the media on Sunday. Highly-touted linebacker Xavier Peters has not yet been cleared academically, but is expected to join the team at some point in fall camp.

Between the Lines

There were no FSU athletic events scheduled for Sunday.
