Lead Story

The first Florida State player selected in last month’s Major League Baseball Draft is the lone Seminole yet to sign with his big league club.

The Seattle Mariners will have until Friday to sign third-round pick and FSU catcher Cal Raleigh. Raleigh was selected 90th overall in the draft and was one of seven FSU players drafted, but the only one who hasn’t put pen to paper.

Raleigh finished with a .326 batting average in 2018 and 54 RBIs — both team-highs. His 13 home runs was second only to Jackson Lueck for the team-lead. Raleigh was named the MVP of the ACC Tournament.
