It’s Thursday, Florida State fans. As the days remaining in the month of June tick away, keep it here for the latest in FSU athletics. The news and notes section of this post will be updated throughout the day.

Lead Story

After a school-record 58 wins and a first national championship, Florida State softball’s coaching staff has been named NFCA National Coaching Staff of the Year.

The contingent led by head coach Lonni Alameda includes assistants Travis Wilson and Craig Snider. FSU went 46-6 over its final 52 games this season and swept Washington in the national championship series to claim college softball’s ultimate crown.

“There are so many more people than just the three of us that contributed to this award,” Alameda said in a release. “From Kendra Lynch our volunteer coach and Ellie Cooper our graduate assistant, to our athletic trainer Eunice Hernandez and strength coach Kelly Borges, and many, many more, our success this season was because we came together as a complete team and a complete family. This year had a lot of highs and lows and I will always remember how much fun we had on and off the field. So proud of everyone involved with this program and it makes me so excited to come to work every day with such amazing and committed people.”
