Lead Story

An All-American selection from Athlon Sports wasn’t the only piece of preseason love for Florida State running back Cam Akers and cornerback Levonta Taylor.

The two were recently listed among Sports Illustrated’s top 100 players for 2018. Akers broke FSU’s freshman rushing record last season en route to going for 1,024 yards on the ground and eight total touchdowns.

Taylor finished his sophomore campaign with 18 tackles, one for loss and two interceptions, including one of which he returned for a touchdown. The Seminoles open the season at home against Virginia Tech on Labor Day, Sept. 3.

News and Notes

FSU freshman men’s golfer John Pak was named a third-team All-American by the Golf Coaches Association of America.

Florida State’s Amanda Doherty, Kim Metraux, Morgane Metraux and Kathleen Sumner have been named to the All-ACC Academic Women’s Golf team.

The Florida State swimming and diving teams were named to the CSCAA Scholar All-America list for the Spring 2018 Semester.
