It’s Tuesday, Florida State fans. As your day winds on, keep it here for the latest in FSU athletics. The news and notes section of this post will be updated throughout the day.

Lead Story

Big news came from the Florida State baseball program on Monday as it was announced that the 2019 season will be head coach Mike Martin’s last. It will be his 40th in Tallahassee.

With the all-time wins record in his pocket, Martin needs just 13 wins to become the first college baseball coach to ever reach 2,000. For perspective’s sake, only 10 Major League Baseball managers have reached that feat and they play 162 games annually as opposed to about 60 or 70 at the college level.

Over his 39 years at Florida State, Martin has led the Seminoles to at least 40 wins in each season. Martin has presided over eight ACC Tournament titles, nine regular season titles and 16 College World Series appearances. The only accomplishment that has eluded Martin is winning a national championship.
