For the second year in a row, Florida State pitcher Andrew Karp will have the option of playing professional baseball.

Karp was selected by the Washington Nationals on Tuesday. Karp was taken with the 191st overall pick in the sixth round of the 2018 Major League Baseball Draft.

As a redshirt junior this past season, Karp had a breakthrough year, going 8-4 with a 3.97 ERA. The eight wins was a team-high as Karp struck out 97 batters in 81 2/3 innings.

Karp was a 34th-round selection of the Chicago Cubs last year, but elected to return in 2018. Karp will have the option of returning for a redshirt senior season and would likely be a mainstay in the weekend rotation.
