Lead Story

Jon Rothstein of CBS Sports reported Thursday that Florida State men’s basketball will host the Purdue Boilermakers in the 2018 ACC/Big Ten Challenge.

The challenge is an annual series established in 1999 that matches up teams from the Atlantic Coast Conference and the Big Ten Conference. Last year, Florida State faced off against Rutgers in New Jersey and won 78-73. This year, the Seminoles will stay in the Tucker Civic Center and host Purdue. The exact date and time remains unknown.

Purdue finished 25-6 in the regular season and received a No. 2 seed in the NCAA Tournament this past season. Despite losing starting center Isaac Haas in the first round of the tournament, the Boilermakers were able to advance to the Sweet 16, where they lost to Texas Tech. They concluded the year with a 30-7 overall record.

NBC Sports has the Boilermakers as a fringe top 25 team for next season.

Between the Lines

FSU softball fell to the UCLA Bruins 7-4 on Thursday night. The Seminoles are now in the elimination bracket of the Women’s College World Series. They will play the Georgia Bulldogs at 2:30 p.m. EST on Saturday.
