It’s Friday, Florida State fans and a big one at that. As you settle in to watch FSU beach volleyball in the NCAA Tournament, keep it here for the latest in FSU athletics. The news and notes section of this post will be updated throughout the day.
Lead Story
A spectacular regular season for Florida State’s men’s tennis team has earned head coach Dwayne Hultquist a nice piece of hardware. On Thursday, Hultquist was named the ACC Men’s Tennis Coach of the Year.
FSU went 27-4 this season, which was highlighted by wins over Florida and No. 1 Wake Forest. The Seminoles will host an NCAA Regional for the first time since 2009, beginning with Alabama State next Friday.
As far as players go, Aziz Dougas was named All-ACC first-team while Guy Iradukunda and Lucas Poullain earned second-team honors. On the women’s side, Carla Touly won first-team honors. Petra Hule was a second-team selection.

There were no FSU athletic events scheduled for Thursday.
On the Agenda
FSU beach volleyball will kick of the NCAA Tournament at 11 a.m. EST on Friday against USC. The contest airs on ESPNU. FSU track and field wraps up the regular season at home with Seminole Twilight. FSU softball hosts NC State at 5 p.m. EST on ACC Network Extra.

With a win over Clemson on Saturday night, FSU baseball coach Mike Martin would pass Augie Garrido for the most wins in college baseball history.
FSU beach volleyball opened the NCAA Tournament with a 3-1 win over 3-time defending national champion USC. FSU topped No. 1 seed UCLA by the same score.
