The Daily Nole — April 30, 2018: FSU Softball Falls at Notre Dame, 3-1

It’s a new week, Florida State fans. As your Monday chugs along, keep it here for the latest in FSU athletics. The news and notes section of this post will be updated throughout the day.

Lead Story

Florida State softball went into South Bend and took the series from Notre Dame, but was unable to complete the sweep. The Seminoles were defeated on Sunday, 3-1.

Cali Harrod had three of the nine hits for the Seminoles and scored the team’s only run. Notre Dame went ahead for good with two runs in the second inning before adding one in the sixth.

Melissa Rochford, Katie Marino and Sara White all drove in runs for the Fighting Irish. Kylee Hanson took the loss for an FSU team that left 11 runners on base. FSU wraps up the regular season next weekend with a 3-game series at NC State.

Between the Lines

In addition to FSU softball, FSU baseball fell at home to Miami on Sunday, 11-5.

On the Agenda

There are no FSU athletic events scheduled for Monday.

News and Notes

FSU baseball moved up one spot to No. 16 in the Baseball America Poll. The Seminoles held firm at No. 16 in the D1Baseball.com Poll. FSU fell seven spots in the Collegiate Baseball Poll to No. 26 and moved up a spot to 15th in the NCBWA Poll.

The ACC will name players of the week for various sports.
