The Daily Nole — April 29, 2018: FSU Softball Clinches ACC Regular Season Title

It’s Sunday, Florida State fans. As your weekend wraps up, keep it here for the latest in FSU athletics. We’ll update the news and notes section of this post throughout the day.

Lead Story

For a sixth straight season, Florida State softball has claimed the ACC’s regular season crown. The Seminoles accomplished that feat on Saturday afternoon with an 11-2 win over Notre Dame.

Jessie Warren drove in three runs in the win while Carsyn Gordon and Zoe Casas each plated a pair. Sydney Sherrill, Elizabeth Mason and Morgan Klaevemann each scored twice.

The Seminoles busted things open with a 6-run second inning and never looked back. The FSU pitching trio of Meghan King, Savanna Copeland and Cassidy Davis held the Fighting Irish to just two hits. FSU goes for the series sweep at 12 p.m. EST on Sunday on ACC Network Extra.

Between the Lines

In addition to FSU softball, FSU track and field wrapped up the Penn Relays and participated in the National Relay Championships in Arkansas on Saturday. FSU men’s tennis fell to North Carolina in the ACC Tournament semifinals. FSU baseball topped rival Miami, 10-1.

On the Agenda

In addition to softball, FSU baseball goes for the 3-game sweep of Miami on Sunday. The contest begins at 1 p.m. EST and airs on ACC Network Extra.

With a win on Sunday, FSU baseball coach Mike Martin would surpass Texas legend Augie Garrido for the most wins ever.

Miami blasted Florida State baseball on Sunday afternoon, 11-5.

The NCAA Beach Volleyball Selection Show takes place on Sunday.

FSU basketball center Ike Obiagu has confirmed that he is leaving the program.

FSU beach volleyball will be the No. 4 seed in the NCAA Championships and kick things off against 2-time defending national champion USC.
