FSU Men’s Swimming and Diving Finishes 21st at NCAA Championships

The 2017-18 swimming and diving season is over for Florida State. The men’s team wrapped up the NCAA Championships in Minneapolis on Saturday after four days at the event.

As a team, FSU finished just 21st. A pair of Florida State relay teams however, managed to win All-American honors.

The first All-American honors of the championships for FSU came on Thursday night as the Seminoles claimed first-team honors with a seventh place finish in the 200-yard freestyle relay. Representing the Seminoles were seniors Joseph Plechy and Chad Mylin and juniors Will Pasani and Kanoa Kaleoaloha.

The final All-America honors for Florida State over the four days came in the final event of the championships. In the 400-yard relays on Saturday night, the combination of Emir Muratovic, Pasani, Kaleoaloha and sophomore Felipe Ribeiro De Souza earned ninth-team All-American accolades with a ninth place finish.

After finishing second on the women’s side to rival Stanford the week before, California did likewise of the men’s side, finishing with 437.5 points. Texas finished with 449 points to claim the national championship.
