The Daily Nole — March 6, 2018: FSU Track and Field Assistants Win Regional Honors

Lead Story

A pair of Florida State track and field assistants were honored on Monday for their work this season.

Keith Herston was named the men’s South Region Assistant of the Year after three of his jumpers qualified for the NCAA Championships. The South Region Assistant of the Year on the women’s side was Brandon Hon, who helped four Seminoles qualify for the NCAA Championships in five events.

The Seminoles captured both the men’s and women’s ACC titles last month, marking the first time since 2014 that either were able to claim a conference crown. The NCAA Championships begin on Friday in College Station.

Between the Lines

FSU men’s golf remained in fifth place at the Querencia Cabo Collegiate on Monday. FSU swimmers and divers competed for NCAA qualifying. FSU baseball rallied from five runs down to top Kansas, 10-5.

On the Agenda

FSU men’s golf will wrap up the Querencia Cabo Collegiate on Tuesday. FSU swimming and diving will continue NCAA Championship qualifying. FSU baseball wraps up a 2-game set with Kansas at 6 p.m. EST on ACC Network Extra.

News and Notes

FSU basketball’s Terance Mann was named All-ACC honorable mention.

No starter has been named for FSU’s Tuesday night baseball contest.

Florida State divers Ayla Bonniwell and Joshua Davidson will advance to the 2018 NCAA Championships.

Former FSU basketball guard Xavier Rathan-Mayes made his NBA debut for the Memphis Grizzlies on Monday night with eight points and six assists.

FSU baseball defeated Kansas on Tuesday night, 12-7.
