Lead Story

After an 0-2 start at the Unconquered Invitational, Florida State softball finished its home tournament strong with three straight wins. The Seminoles closed the invitational on Sunday with a 2-1 win over No. 6 Oregon.

The difference on Sunday was a 2-run fourth inning for FSU. After Jessie Warren scored on a throw home on a ground ball from Carsyn Gordon that was not in time, the Seminoles went ahead for good on a sacrifice fly by Elizabeth Mason that scored Sydney Sherrill.

FSU picked up the win despite not recording a hit. Kylee Hanson worked 5 1/3 scoreless innings of relief to earn the win for FSU. Mia Camuso had two of the five hits for the Ducks in the loss.

Florida State avenged a 5-0 loss to Oregon on the opening night of the Unconquered Invitational. Up next for FSU is a contest with Pennsylvania on Thursday in Clearwater.

Between the Lines

In addition to softball, FSU women’s tennis blanked Pittsburgh on Sunday, 7-0. FSU men’s golf is in fifth place after one day of the Querencia Cabo Collegiate in Mexico. FSU baseball defeated UNC-Asheville, 4-2.

On the Agenda

FSU men’s golf continues the Querencia Cabo Collegiate on Monday. FSU swimming and diving begins NCAA qualifying in Knoxville. FSU baseball will host Kansas in a contest that begins at 6 p.m. EST and airs on ACC Network Extra.

News and Notes

The AP and USA Today Coaches Poll will be released on Monday.

The ACC will announce players of the week for various sports on Monday.

FSU softball’s Jessie Warren broke the ACC career RBI record during the Unconquered Invitational on Saturday.

FSU is ranked third in the Baseball America and Collegiate Baseball Polls. FSU stayed put at No. 4 in the D1Baseball.com and NCBWA Polls.

FSU baseball rallied from five runs down to beat Kansas on Monday night, 10-5.
