The Daily Nole — Feb. 20, 2018: FSU Women Fall at Duke

Lead Story

Florida State women’s hoops’ 4-game winning streak came to an end on Monday night as the No. 9 Seminoles fell at No. 20 Duke, 79-66.

FSU was able to whittle what was a 12-point Duke lead down to four in the final quarter, but could get no closer. Duke’s Lexie Brown scored a game-high 30 points to lead the charge while Rebecca Greenwell chipped in with 22 points, which included six made 3-pointers. Leaonna Odom had a rough shooting night, but finished with 15 points and a game-high 12 rebounds for the Blue Devils.

The glass was where FSU was dominated as Duke held a 48-37 advantage. Nicki Ekhomu finished with 15 points and nine rebounds to pace FSU. A.J. Alix added 13 points while Imani Wright added 11 and Nausia Woolfolk finished with 10.

With the loss, Florida State falls to 22-5 and 10-4 in ACC play. Up next for the Seminoles is a home game against Boston College on Thursday.

FSU women’s hoops was the only scheduled contest for Monday.

Florida State baseball will host South Florida on Tuesday at 4 p.m. EST on ACC Network Extra. FSU softball hosts McNeese State at 5 p.m. EST.

FSU will start No. 4 in the AVCA Beach Volleyball Coaches Preseason Poll.

FSU women’s hoops was ranked ninth overall by the NCAA Selection Committee on Monday.

FSU baseball defeated South Florida on Tuesday night, 5-2.
