Lead Story

One day after suffering its first loss of the season to Michigan by way of shutout, Florida State softball returned the favor on Sunday to close out the ACC/Big Ten Challenge, 2-0.

FSU pitcher Kylee Hanson was one out shy of going the distance as she allowed just two hits and two walks in her 6.2 innings of work. The contest was scoreless until the sixth inning when Elizabeth Mason delivered a sacrifice fly to bring in Sydney Sherrill. The Seminoles added an insurance run in the seventh on a solo home run by Jessie Warren, which tied an FSU school-record as it accounted for her 216th career RBI.

Sydney Sherrill was named the MVP of the Tallahassee site of the ACC/Big Ten Softball Challenge after going 7-for-12 with three runs and two RBIs over the four games. Hanson was the site’s top pitcher as the Seminoles went 3-1 over the three days. Up next is a home contest with McNeese State on Tuesday.
