In arguably the most highly-anticipated home women’s basketball match-up in Florida State history, the eighth-ranked Seminoles were no match for No. 5 Notre Dame on Sunday. In front of a record crowd to watch a women’s hoops game at the Donald L. Tucker Center, FSU fell to the Fighting Irish, 100-69.
Notre Dame outscored FSU in every quarter and held the Seminoles to a dismal 33 percent shooting from the floor and less than 30 percent in the first half. The Fighting Irish led by as many as 34 in the contest before cruising to the easy victory.
Kathryn Westbeld finished with 21 points and 12 rebounds to lead six Notre Dame players in double-figures. Ogunbowale Arika and Jessica Shepard each finished with 19 for the Fighting Irish in the win. Imani Wright paced FSU with a game-high 23 points and five of the eight makes from beyond the arc for the Seminoles. Chatrice White chipped in with 14 points and nine rebounds in the loss.
With the defeat, FSU falls to 18-3 on the season and 6-2 in ACC play. Florida State now hits the road to face North Carolina on Thursday night.
Between the Lines
In addition to the women’s basketball game, FSU men’s tennis was defeated by Baylor on Sunday in the final of the ITA Kickoff, 4-1.
On the Agenda
There are no FSU athletic events scheduled for Monday.

The AP and USA Today Coaches Poll will unveil new basketball rankings.
The ACC will name players of the week for various sports.
FSU pitcher Tyler Holton has been named a second-team All-American by Baseball America. Catcher Cal Raleigh is a third-team selection.
