It appears a 4-star linebacker will trading in bluegrass for garnet and gold.

According to a report from 247Sports’ Josh Newberg, Xavier Peters has flipped from Kentucky to Florida State. Peters is from West Chester, Ohio near Cincinnati.

Peters gained traction late in the recruiting cycle when the big three Florida schools began to push for official visits. There was some uncertainty if Peters would ever take an official visit since he had multiple schools listed on the same weekend. Rumors are that grades could be an issue, but clearly not big enough of an issue to prevent all of Florida State, Florida, and Miami from actively pursuing him.

Currently ranked as the No. 173 overall prospect, according to the 247Sports Composite rankings, the 12th best outside linebacker and the sixth best player from Ohio, Peters committed to the Wildcats on July 4 before flipping on Sunday. Listed at 6-foot-4 and 225 pounds, Peters becomes the 13th commitment of the 2018 class and joins Tallahassee native Amari Gainer as the second linebacker to join. Peters is the fifth highest rated prospect of the class.

Entering the day, FSU’s class ranked 25th nationally as a team, per the composite. With the addition of Peters, the Seminoles move up to 18th. They’re also up a spot from fourth to third in the ACC behind Miami and Clemson.
