Lead Story

For a second time in four days, Florida State women’s basketball rallied from 15 points down to win, but Sunday’s effort was more impressive.

On the road against No. 2 and undefeated Louisville, the Seminoles trailed 22-9 after one quarter and for most of the way before rallying for a 50-49 victory. FSU’s first lead was 37-36 late in the third quarter on an offensive rebound and a fade-away from Shakayla Thomas.

FSU never led by more than four and trailed 47-46 with just over a minute to play when A.J. Alix’s 3-pointer from the top of the key put the Seminoles ahead for good. Louisville missed a game-tying 3-pointer in the final seconds, settling for a layup with less than a second on the clock.

Thomas led the Seminoles with 14 points and 11 rebounds as they beat a No. 2 ranked team for just the second time in school-history. Imani Wright added 10 points in the win, but on just 3-for-16 shooting. Myisha Hines-Allen scored 13 points and grabbed 15 rebounds to lead the Cardinals.
