Lead Story

It will be an all-SEC national championship after Georgia and Alabama advanced Monday with semifinal victories.

The Bulldogs defeated Oklahoma 54-48 in two overtimes at the Rose Bowl after rallying from 17 points down. After blocking a Sooner field goal in the first part of the second overtime, Sony Michel scored the game-winning 27-yard touchdown to send Georgia to Atlanta.

In a rematch of the last two national championships, Alabama defeated Clemson in the Sugar Bowl, 24-6. Two third quarter touchdowns in a 13-second span by Da’Ron Payne and Mack Wilson proved too much for the Tigers to overcome.

The teams will meet next Monday in Atlanta. With Clemson’s loss, the ACC finishes 4-6 in bowl games. FSU opponents for 2017 are currently 4-4.
