The Daily Nole — Nov. 25, 2017: FSU Volleyball Sweeps Georgia Tech to End Regular Season

It’s the day of the big game, Florida State fans. Before you settle in and watch the Seminoles take on the Gators, keep it here for the latest in FSU athletics. The news and notes section of this post will be updated throughout the day.

Lead Story

Florida State volleyball seems to be peaking at the right time. After a 6-8 start in conference, the Seminoles closed the regular season on Friday with a sixth straight win.

The Seminoles topped Georgia Tech in straight sets on Friday afternoon, 25-12, 25-18, 25-23. Milica Kubura led FSU with 11 kills while Logan Holanchock and Cecilie Woie each had 14 digs. Gabriela Stavnetchei led the Yellow Jackets with a match-high 16 kills.

With the victory, Florida State finishes the year with a record of 18-10 and tied for fifth best in conference at 12-8. The Seminoles will now wait and see who they draw in the NCAA Tournament.

Between the Lines

In addition to the FSU volleyball victory, the Seminoles notched a pair of victories on the basketball court. The FSU women topped Sacred Heart 101-52 while the men handled The Citadel, 113-78.

On the Agenda

FSU football will be at Florida on Saturday in a contest that airs at noon EST on ESPN.

FSU basketball center Chris Koumadje is out indefinitely with a leg injury, head coach Leonard Hamilton said Friday.
