The Daily Nole — Oct. 26, 2017: George Campbell Out for the Season

It’s Thursday, Florida State fans, which means we’re just one day away from FSU facing Boston College on the gridiron. In the meantime, keep it here for the latest in FSU athletics as we update the news and notes section of this post throughout the day.

Lead Story

Florida State announced with Wednesday’s injury report that its thin corps of receivers would be permanently thinner for the remainder of 2017.

Redshirt sophomore George Campbell will miss the rest of the year with the same core injury that ended his season in 2016. After catching just three passes for 42 yards over his first two seasons, Campbell had a career-year with six grabs for 122, but most of that production came in the home opener against N.C. State.

Fellow wide receiver Keith Gavin will also miss Friday’s game against Boston College with an ankle injury. That leaves just Auden Tate, Nyqwan Murray, D.J. Matthews, Tamorrion Terry and converted cornerback Malique Jackson as the only scholarship receivers available.

Between the Lines

There were no FSU athletic events scheduled for Wednesday.

On the Agenda

FSU soccer will visit Clemson on Thursday night. FSU men’s basketball will host Central Missouri in an exhibition. Both matches will begin at 7 p.m. EST. The soccer match will air on ACC Network Extra.

News and Notes

CBS’ ranking of all 351 men’s basketball teams has FSU at No. 70.

FSU basketball was picked to finish eighth in the ACC for the 2017-18 season.
