It’s Thursday, Florida State fans, which means we’re just two days away from the rivalry showdown with Miami. Keep it here for the latest in FSU athletics as we update the news and notes section of this post throughout the day.

Lead Story

Hurricanes have given Florida State a problem in 2017 and the Seminoles haven’t even faced rival Miami yet.

After cancelling the scheduled Sept. 9 contest with Louisiana-Monroe and pushing the Sept. 16 ACC opener against Miami back to Oct. 7 because of Hurricane Irma, FSU and Miami have another storm they are tracking. It’s possible that Nate — a tropical storm and potential hurricane — could make its way to Tallahassee in time for Saturday’s 3:30 p.m. EST kickoff.

Fortunately for the school and city, the recent path has changed and Tallahassee is no longer slated to get hit. The university is expected to announce a decision Thursday, which could include shifting the game time and date.

Between the Lines

FSU women’s tennis continued All-American Qualifying on Wednesday. FSU volleyball defeated Miami in straight sets, 25-23, 25-18, 25-23.

On the Agenda

FSU women’s tennis will continue All-American Qualifying on Thursday while members of the men’s team begin the All American Main Draw. The men’s tennis will also begin the Bedford Cup in Tallahassee. FSU soccer will host Boston College in a contest that begins at 7 p.m. EST and airs on ACC Network Extra.

News and Notes

Miami is currently a 3-point favorite over FSU.

FSU and Miami will go on as scheduled at 3:30 p.m. EST on Saturday.

The nation’s top quarterback prospect, Justin Fields, will make his commitment decision on Friday morning.
