Happy hump day, Florida State fans. As your week winds down and you recover from Hurricane Irma, keep it here for the latest in FSU athletics. The news and notes section of this post will be updated throughout the day.

Lead Story

Florida State won’t be in action until Sept. 23, but the Seminoles managed to move up in the latest S&P+ rankings from Football Outsiders.

Only Alabama and LSU were ranked higher, but one phase of FSU’s game was ranked 130th — or dead last in FBS — and that was the special teams unit. The offense ranked ninth and the defense seventh for the Seminoles.

During FSU’s 24-7 season-opening loss to Alabama on Sept. 2, the Seminoles had a field goal and punt blocked in addition to fumbling a kickoff. Although Hurricane Irma cancelled practices, FSU will have had three weeks to correct the issues when it faces N.C. State on Sept. 23.

Between the Lines

There were no FSU athletic events scheduled for Tuesday.

On the Agenda

FSU soccer will visit Troy at 3 p.m. EST on Wednesday. The contest was originally scheduled for Tuesday in Tallahassee, but moved because of Hurricane Irma.

News and Notes

FSU’s baseball recruiting class ranked seventh nationally, according to Baseball America.

After having to cancel matches against Arizona, Tennessee and Florida, FSU volleyball adds a home contest with Auburn set for Saturday.
