We hope you enjoyed the beginning of the NFL season Sunday. Despite Hurricane Irma passing over Tallahassee late last night, we’ll still keep you updated on everything related to FSU athletics.

Lead Story

The Florida State men’s golf team dominated the Doc Gimmler Invitational in New York on Sunday. The Seminoles went in to the final round with a 12-stroke lead, and capped it off with a first overall placement by 10 strokes. The top three teams were Florida State, Loyola-Maryland, and Connecticut.

Three FSU golfers placed in the top 10 of the individual standings. John Pak finished the highest at No. 2 overall, just two strokes behind the top spot. Jonathan Keppler was right behind him at the No. 3 spot. Finally, Bennett Baker tied for No. 10 overall in the standings.

Golf’s next event is the Olympia Fields Invitational, hosted by the University of Illinois. That invitational will take place from Friday, Sept. 15 to Sunday, Sept. 17.

Between the Lines

FSU golf remained the only athletic program in action on Sunday.

On the Agenda

All FSU athletic events for the week were cancelled, along with classes from Monday through Friday.

News and Notes

The NFL season kicked off Sunday, meaning there were plenty of former Seminoles to watch. At last count, there were 40 former FSU football players active on the 32 teams that make up the league.
