The Daily Nole — Sept. 10, 2017: FSU Men’s Golf Leads Big in New York

It’s Sunday, Florida State fans. We hope you’re keeping safe with Hurricane Irma making its way toward Florida. The news and notes section of this post will be updated throughout the day.

Lead Story

The one Florida State program not currently affected by Hurricane Irma seems well on its way to a victory.

FSU men’s golf participated in the first two rounds of the Doc Gimmler Invitational in New York on Saturday and are comfortably ahead. The Seminoles find themselves in first place, 12 strokes ahead of second-place Connecticut.

Among individuals, Eoin Leonard of Yale leads at -10 overall while FSU’s Jonathan Keppler and John Pak are second and third, respectively. Bennett Baker is in seventh place overall for Florida State. FSU will wrap up the tournament on Sunday.

Between the Lines

FSU’s volleyball contest against Arizona and football game against Louisiana-Monroe were each cancelled on Saturday. FSU golf was the only athletic program in action.

On the Agenda

FSU golf is the only scheduled FSU athletic event for Sunday.

News and Notes

FSU has closed classes through Friday.

FSU fell one spot in the Amway Coaches Poll to No. 10. FSU also fell one spot in the AP Poll to 11th.
