The Daily Nole — Sept. 4, 2017: FSU Soccer Blanks Kentucky

Happy Labor Day, Florida State fans. For those of you enjoying the day off of work, keep it here for the latest in FSU athletics. The news and notes section of this post will be updated throughout the day.

Lead Story

Following its first loss of the season, Florida State bounced back on Sunday and in a big way.

Playing at home against Kentucky, the Seminoles pitched a 4-0 shutout. Deyna Castellanos and Madisyn Pezzino each scored a pair of goals in the victory while the Wildcats managed just one total shot.

With the win, FSU improved to 4-1. Up next for Florida State will be rival Florida on Friday.

Between the Lines

In addition to soccer, FSU volleyball defeated TCU in four sets on Sunday, 25-16, 25-23, 23-25, 25-21 to finish in second place at the Seminole Invitational.

On the Agenda

FSU women’s golf begins the Ocean Course Invitational in South Carolina on Monday.

News and Notes

Former FSU players Marquez White (Dallas Cowboys), Kermit Whitfield (Cincinnati Bengals) and Jesus Wilson (Tampa Bay Buccaneers) were all signed to NFL practice squads.
