It’s Thursday, Florida State fans. The weekend is approaching and that means the start of the 2017 football season for FSU. Until we’re there, keep it here for the latest in FSU athletics. The news and notes section of this post will be updated throughout the day.

Lead Story

The nation’s top cornerback for 2018 narrowed his list of schools down to six on Wednesday and as expected, Florida State made the cut.

Patrick Surtain, Jr., a 5-star recruit out of Plantation, limited his top schools to FSU, LSU, Alabama, Florida, Clemson and Ohio State. Surtain is not only listed as the top cornerback, according to the 247Sports Composite rankings, but the No. 4 overall player.

Surtain is listed at 6-2 and 180 pounds and is the son of former NFL Pro Bowl cornerback Patrick Surtain. The Seminoles are in the mix, but LSU currently looks to be the front-runner for his services.
