In what has become the soap opera of the FSU football preseason, Matthew Thomas was seen Tuesday walking into practice without any pads on. This comes just one day after head coach Jimbo Fisher had predicted that Thomas would be practicing with the team on Monday. That never happened, and now it’s unclear if Thomas will be ready for the Alabama game on Saturday.
For a long time, Fisher had held that Thomas had a “sickness”. When it became obvious that was implausible, he mentioned that they were sorting out an issue with Thomas (most signs point to grades being the problem). Even if he did get the issue resolved, at this point he has missed multiple days of practice.
There was also an odd occurrence yesterday where FSU cancelled Fisher’s press conference and denied player availability. Reporters were given no explanation as to why. FSU football then sent out an email confirming that Fisher would only be available for post-practice comments on Thursday. He would still participate in the ACC Coaches Teleconference and Jimbo Fisher Call-In Show on Wednesday.

News and Notes
Nole Gameday is reporting that a source confirmed Auden Tate will be able to play against Alabama. Tate was seen Tuesday walking out of practice early.
Jimbo Fisher was on the ACC Coaches Teleconference Wednesday morning and sounded less than enthusiastic about Thomas’ chances at playing on Saturday. When asked about it, Fisher said “I don’t know” and added that he thought Thomas would be back by now.
