A second redshirt freshman offensive lineman will watch his season end before it starts.

According to reports, tackle Jauan Williams will miss the 2017 season with a left shoulder injury. The news comes less than a week after center Baveon Johnson’s season came to an end after undergoing surgery to fix a meniscus issue.

Neither Johnson nor Williams were expected to start, but could have provided valuable depth. The players likely to compete for time at tackle include Rick Leonard, Brock Ruble, Derrick Kelly and Josh Ball.

News and Notes

Cornerback Tarvarus McFadden has been named FSU’s punt returner for the 2017 season, per reports. Safety Derwin James and wide receiver Keith Gavin were given the kickoff return duties.
