It’s Monday, Florida State fans. As the new week starts, keep it here for the latest in FSU athletics. The news and notes section of this post will be updated throughout the day.

Lead Story

After 14 seasons in the NFL with five different teams, former Florida State wide receiver Anquan Boldin has decided to hang up the cleats, according to multiple reports.

Boldin’s retirement comes less than a month after signing a 1-year deal with the Buffalo Bills. Boldin previously played for the Arizona Cardinals, Baltimore Ravens, San Francisco 49ers and Detroit Lions. Boldin played in three Pro Bowls, two Super Bowls, winning one, and ranks 14th all-time in receiving yards.

A high school quarterback out of Pahokee, Boldin played for Florida State from 1999-02, winning one national championship and three ACC titles. Boldin was expected to be the team’s starting quarterback for the 2001 season, but a preseason knee injury gave the job to redshirt freshman Chris Rix.

Boldin returned to wide receiver in 2002 to lead the team with 1,011 yards receiving and 13 touchdowns. Both of those numbers rank in the top 10 all-time for a single season in FSU history.

Between the Lines

Megan Connolly scored both goals for Florida State as FSU soccer defeated South Alabama on Sunday, 2-1.

On the Agenda

There are no FSU athletic events scheduled for Monday.

News and Notes

FSU will begin the season ranked third in the AP Poll.
