It’s Friday, Florida State fans. As you prepare for the weekend, keep it here for the latest in FSU athletics. The news and notes section will be updated throughout the day.

Lead Story

One of the most recognizable names, faces and voices in Florida State history will send students on their way during a commencement speech next week.

FSU head baseball coach Mike Martin will be the keynote speaker for graduates who take their walks through the Tucker Center on Aug. 5. More than 2,500 students are expected to graduate that day.

Martin is a alumni himself and is more than qualified to give a speech on success after Florida State. Martin is one of two college baseball coaches with at least 1,900 career wins and sits just 32 wins shy of becoming the all-time leader. Martin helped guide the Seminoles to the College World Series for a 22nd time this past season.
