Florida State golfer Morgane Metraux was among a number of amateurs competing in the U.S. Women’s Open.

Metraux’s endeavor ended on Friday as she finished +11, which was nine strokes higher than needed to make the cut. For the Open, Metraux finished tied for 148th place.

Sung-Hyun Park ended up winning the tournament at -11. It was an amateur who gave her all she wanted as Hye-Jin Choi finished two strokes off the lead at -9.

News and Notes

FSU linebackers Matthew Thomas and Jacob Pugh were each named to the preseason Butkus Award watch list on Monday.

FSU safety Derwin James was named to the Paul Hornung Award watch list, which recognizes versatility.

ACC media members have picked Florida State to win the conference in 2017.
