James Named to Paul Hornung Award Watch List

Watch lists and accolades continue to roll in for Florida State redshirt sophomore Derwin James.

On Monday, the do-everything safety was named to the Paul Hornung Award watch list. The Hornung Award is named after the former Notre Dame and Green Bay Packers star and has been given by the Louisville Sports Commission every year since 2010.

The award honors a player’s versatility. As a freshman in 2015, James ranked first, second or third for the Seminoles in solo tackles, total tackles, sacks, tackles for loss, forced fumbles and pass break-ups.

James played in just two games last season before going down with a meniscus tear. James was previously named to watch lists for the Maxwell, Bednarik, Nagurski and Thorpe Awards/Trophies. No FSU player has ever won the Hornung Award.
