The Daily Nole — July 10, 2017: FAU Softball Star Transfers to FSU

FAU athletics

It’s Monday, Florida State fans. For those of you who are returning back to the grind, we’ll try to help you through it. The news and notes section of this post will be updated throughout the day.

Lead Story

Florida State softball will have to replace a 2-time ACC Pitcher of the Year in Jessica Burroughs in 2018, but Lonni Alameda’s team may have found a candidate to do so.

Last week, Florida Atlantic pitcher Kylee Hanson announced that she would spend her final season at FSU. Hanson was 5-1 last season with an 0.91 ERA before going down with a season-ending injury in February. The year prior, Hanson was named the Conference USA Pitcher of the Year, posting a nation’s best 0.76 ERA.

Hanson will likely team with lefty Meghan King to serve as the top two pitchers for the Seminoles. Hanson is a senior and will have one year of eligibility remaining. FSU is coming off a fourth straight ACC title in a 55-win season that ended one win shy of the Women’s College World Series.
