It’s Sunday, Florida State fans. As your day and weekend winds down, keep it here for the latest in FSU athletics. The news and notes section of this post will be updated throughout the day.

Lead Story

The 2016-17 athletic year for Florida State didn’t end with a national championship, but the Seminoles still enjoyed an all-around stellar year. According to CBS Sports’ “Best in College Sports” rankings, FSU had the best year in college athletics, edging out rival Florida.

Unlike other polls like the Learfield Directors Cup, which ranks all sports evenly, the CBS polls put more weight toward the revenue sports like football and men’s basketball. After the total points were tallied, FSU finished with 491.25. Florida finished with 489.75.

Behind the two Florida schools was USC, Wisconsin and West Virginia. Florida State finished 13th in the Directors Cup while Directors Cup winner, Stanford, finished just eighth in CBS’ formula.
