Two Florida State players heard their names called during Thursday night’s NBA Draft, but one other who was hoping to did not.

Guard Xavier Rathan-Mayes was not projected to be selected after declaring following his redshirt junior season, but he had held out hope. After being academically ineligible as a true freshman, Rathan-Mayes led the team in assists in each of the last three seasons.

Despite going undrafted, the Canadian point guard will likely get a shot with someone at the NBA level. Rathan-Mayes averaged 10.6 points and 4.8 assists for the Seminoles last season.

FSU track and field participated in the USATF Junior National Championships on Thursday.

News and Notes

Former FSU forward Jonathan Isaac was selected sixth overall by the Orlando Magic in Thursday night’s NBA Draft.

Dwayne Bacon, a former FSU guard, was taken in the second round of the NBA Draft on Thursday night by the New Orleans Pelicans, but traded to the Charlotte Hornets.

Former FSU guard Xavier Rathan-Mayes has agreed to an NBA Summer League deal with the New York Knicks.
